Hebei is also called Ji （冀）， which means hope in Chinese. Hebei has an advantageous geographical location. It surrounds the municipalities of Beijing and Tianjin, and is bordered by the Bohai Sea to the east. The province has 74 million people living on 188,000 square kilometers of territory. There are 11 cities under Hebei's jurisdiction, and the provincial capital is Shijiazhuang. It has 278 cultural relic sites under state protection, ranking third of China's provinces and equivalent administrative units. The province's GDP reached RMB2.98 trillion in 2015. Hebei is currently a hot spot for investors from home and abroad. The coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei is a key national strategy, and Beijing and its co-bidder Zhangjiakou have won the bid to host the 2022 Olympic Winter Games.
